Good News for Humanities Research

 

St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, in association with An Foras Feasa, offers three doctoral students an opportunity to work with dynamic, first-class scholars from its Faculty of Humanities in areas of scholarship related to the themes outlined below. St Patrick's College has a strong track record in research on early modern and recent Irish history; the Irish in Europe; the cultural and historical contexts of children’s literature in Ireland; local history; the cultural and historical contexts of Anglo-Irish literature, including poetry; Irish-language early modern and contemporary literature; musicology and composition.

St Patrick’s College is committed to the maintaining the highest standards of teaching and learning, and places the wellbeing of students at the centre of its mission. An exciting feature of the fellowships is that they will include customized skills courses in areas related to individuals’ research programmes, in addition to covering full fees and a generous stipend for a three-year period. St Patrick's College / An Foras Feasa fellows will enjoy a rich and challenging graduate environment, and will be encouraged to pursue work in new and emerging areas of scholarship related to An Foras Feasa themes. Their structured PhD programme will include some shared master classes with An Foras Feasa fellows from partner institutions and work placements where appropriate. Applications are especially encouraged on innovative research at the interface of Humanities & ICT. Among the research topics explored by doctoral students at St Patrick's College, Drumconda at present are a study on teachers in Irish literature; interdisciplinary studies on literature and education; modern Irish history; musicology and composition.
