Siauliai Univerisity Faculty Visit

Ms Maeve Dupont, Special Education Department, St Patrick’s College, recently coordinated the visit of Ms Odeta Sapelyte and Dr Darius Gerulaitis from the Faculty of Social Welfare and Disability Studies in Siauliai University, Lithuania.  Dr Gerulaitis main research work is the involvement of parents in the process of developing a child’s individual education plan, while Ms Sapelyte is interested in psychological and pedagogical supports for children and young people.  During the course of their stay, the visitors gave a seminar on the subject of special education in Lithuania to Special Education students and also participated in some classes addressing the issue of diagnostic assessmentand individual education programme (IEP) planning of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.  Odeta and Darius also had the opportunity to visit a local school for children with Autism.
