St Patrick's Students Meet An Taoiseach in Washington

Five 2nd Year St Patrick’s College students were invited guests of An Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, T.D. at a reception held in the Irish Embassy in Washington DC on St Patrick’s Day, 2009.  The students are currently spending a semester as international students at the University of Northern Colorado and spent their Spring break in Washington.  Present also at the reception were Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin T.D, Ryan Tubridy and Charlie Bird from RTE.  Following the reception the Taoiseach proceeded to the White House where he presented the traditional bowl of shamrock to President Obama.  The students also visited the White House, Capitol Hill, Arlington Cemetery and the Smithsonian Museum during their stay in the capital.
