Studia Hibernica Volume 35
Volume 35 of Studia Hibernica, edited by Dr Uáitéar Mac Gearailt and Dr James Kelly, has just been published.
The journal is devoted to the study of Irish language and literature, Irish history, and Irish folklore and placenames. Volume 35 contains an article by James Kelly on balneotherapeutic medicine in Ireland between 1660 and 1850 and a review article by Breandán Ó Conaire on Flann O’Brien. It also features reviews by Máirín Nic Eoin, Uáitéar Mac Gearailt, Ruth McManus, Deirdre Nic Mhathúna, James Kelly, Ciarán Mac Murchaidh, Liam Mac Mathúna, Feargal Ó Béarra, Michael Staunton, Thomas O’Loughlin, Gerald Manning, Brendan Smith, David Woods, Anthony M. McCormack, Tadhg Ó hAnnracháin, and Raymond Gillespie. The other articles in this volume are by Craig Haggart (on the Early Irish text Apgitir Chrábaid), Bernadette Cunningham and Raymond Gillespie (on the 16th c. scholar Muirgheas Ó Maoilchonaire), Brian Ó Dálaigh (on the Uí Mhaoilchonaire of Thomond), Breandán Ó Buachalla on the transmission of poetry in 18th and 19th c. Irish manuscripts), and Martin Maguire (on Harry Nicholls and Kathleen Emerson and the Irish war of independence). There are also review articles by Peter Brooks (recent publications on medieval history) and Martyn Powell (the Irish House of Lords in the late 18th c.).
