The Tenements, TV3 Series

Dr. Ruth McManus, Head of Geography was interviewed as an urban Geographer for the new four part TV series, The Tenements, which is being broadcast from Wednesday, 3rd August @ 9.30pm.

The 4x45 minute documentary will be presented by Bryan Murray (Fair City) and will explore the history of Dublin's slums.

Guided by experts, Brian uses the 1911 census and record from the night of one house No 7 Henrietta Street to tell the history of the overcrowded, disease ridden Dublin slums.

The documentary also looks at the landlords behind these appalling dwellings, who were often local Catholic landowners and not, as is usually supposed, Anglo-Irish aristocrats.
