Visiting Lecturer From France

 

Professor François Loget, a lecturer from Limoges University (Institut Universitaire de Formation des Maîtres), France visited the College on an Erasmus teacher exchange during the week 20th – 24th April.  Professor Loget, whose academic interests lie in the areas of epistemology and the comparative history of European educational systems, was hosted by the French Department.   During his stay, Professor Loget held lectures with students in the French Dept on the History of the French Educational System (19th-20th Century), and on Teacher Education in Limoges.   He also had discussions with Dr Eileen Brennan of the Education Dept on issues around comparisons between the history of educational systems in France and Ireland with particular reference to how issues of religion and gender are being addressed.
