ZITEP exchange visits to Zambia and Ireland
Seven lecturers from colleges of education in Zambia are currently visiting St Patrick’s College as part of the Zambia – Ireland Teacher Education Partnership (ZITEP). The timing of their visit has allowed them to attend the Reimagining Teacher Education conference held at St Patrick’s and also participate in workshops for the professional development of teachers taking place at various venues throughout Dublin. They are pictured with Dr Pauric Travers, President, and Mary Kerr, Lead Co-ordinator of ZITEP at a meeting in Belvedere House, St Patrick's College.
In June a group of Irish lecturers, including Dr Bernadette Dwyer and Dr Margaret O’Donnell of St Patrick’s College visited partner colleges in Zambia. Both visits are part of the ZITEP partnership which aims to contribute to the quality of primary education in Zambia through supporting the continual professional development of teacher educators. Irish and Zambian lecturers are now collaborating on research projects which will help inform teacher education programmes in the participating Zambian colleges.
