The Department of Mathematics at St Patrick's College seeks expressions of interest from suitable candidates for the position of Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics for the 4-month period from 1st February until 30th May 2016. Further details can be found here.

 

A paper entitled An explicit derived equivalence of Azumaya algebras on K3 surfaces via Koszul duality by Madeeha Khalid and Colin Ingalls has appeared in the Journal of Algebra 2015 (Volume 432).

 

St Patrick's College was delighted to host a joint meeting of BSRLM and Mathematics Education Ireland (MEI) on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th February 2015. Members of the Mathematics Dept presented their research at the conference: Brendan O'Sullivan on Textbook analysis: using textbook tasks to examine curriculum implementation in Ireland, Maurice OReilly (with P. Eaton, C. Horn, M. Liston and E. Oldham) on Using Narrative to Access Mathematical Identity: An overview informed by an empirical study in five third level institutions in Ireland, and Sinead Breen (with A. O'Shea) on Transition through Mathematical Tasks. Abstracts for all papers presented at the conference can be found here.

 

A paper by Sinéad Breen in collaboration with Niclas Larson (Stockholm), Ann O’Shea (Maynooth) and Kerstin Pettersson (Stockholm), entitled Students’ concept images of inverse functions, was presented to the University Mathematics Education Working Group of CERME 9 in Prague, 4-8 February 2015.
