students inspired by women for election
On the 9 February 2013, Néidín Coulahan and Clíodhna Ryan took part in Women for Election’s INSPIRE Programme. This one-day training course is designed to inspire women to run for politics, and also equip them with the practical tools that they need to get started and to succeed. Néidín and Clíodhna, along with 30 other women, took part in workshops on Communications, Campaigns, and Confidence, and learnt through the personal stories of inspirational women such as Minister Frances Fitzgerald and Councillor Mary Fitzpatrick. Throughout the day, Néidín and Clíodhna were encouraged to develop their personal strategy, and at the end of the intensive workshops they left with a clear understanding of the challenges of public life and how to overcome them, as well as a set of personal and professional resolutions that Women for Election will support them in achieving.
As part of our continuing commitment to supporting women’s leadership, St Patrick’s College, together with Women for Election, will run a series of workshops for female students interested in learning more about campaigning and political life.
