The office was established in 2002
to coordinate the development and implementation of the College research agenda; to facilitate the
work of its departments, centres and faculties in accomplishing its agenda; and to coordinate the
development and implementation of the College strategic plan so as to achieve the College research
goals.
The office administers and develops postgraduate degrees by research and thesis, oversees admission and progression and ensures that postgraduate research is supervised appropriately.
It also administers research funding authorised by the College Research Committee.
An important element of its work relates to the functions of the Research Ethics Committee, which is chaired by the Dean of Research and Humanities. The Office processes and administers applications for ethics review submitted by staff and postgraduate research students.
